An unexpected message legion

But sadly, Levitz ruined all that for me, again, with his last story arc, to me. Prior to the first reboot, there was only one version of the Legion now there are who knows how many (don't really care, can't be bothered to check).Īfter Zero Hour, I quit Legion, for good at the time, I thought, after loyally following the title for decades.Īfter Lightning Saga, I actually started buying Legion books again. To give context, I'm very 'old school,' preferring the 'version' of the Legion that started in Adv 247 (1958/04) and continued in a fairly self-consistent way all the way up through the Magic Wars in 1989 (LSH v.3 # 63). I saw Lightning Saga as a very imperfect compromise, which was apparently the best Johns could come up with that the powers that be could live with, but a huge step in the right direction, which actually got me interested in Legion again after a hiatus of many years.

Then new stories going forward with that group. Ideally, I would like to have had all of the reboots completely written out of existence and the Legion returned to where it was just after the Magic Wars (LSH v.3 # 63). Had no interest in seeing old stories rehashed, nor did I expect that to happen (and it didn't, in fact, happen, except to a minor extent with the origin flashback stories by Levitz later).

I liked the Lightning Saga because it partly restored the state of the Legion prior to the reboots.
